Since it’s inception, the smartphone has started to look and act more and more like a computer. Computers, on the other hand, have started to behave like smartphones and tablets: think of the OSX Lion, Windows8 and Ubuntu with Unity. This is mostly to improve the user experience and for cross-platform protection against hacks, exploits and bad apps- but this often does compromise our privacy and control over your own system.
How much control and privacy are you prepared to put into the hands of large corporations? Are there any alternatives that allow you to decide for yourself how you share and sync information, or what the background of your mobile looks like?
During moddr_’s Jailbreak! Workshop, attention will be paid to these subjects and other related (technical) matters.
It’s a great moment to bring your (old) IOS and/or Android mobile or tablet and, together with others, install a new operating system (like CyanogenMod) or to share knowledge of and amazement over these subjects. The workshop will have an informal setting and will mainly be a great opportunity to crank up your nerd-skills ;)
Participation is free but please sign in!
