March 4, 5 and 6 2010

Workshops during 5 days off at NIMk:

Workshop 'Light and colour' by Mike Rijnierse
During the workshop Light and colour we will search for musicality and composition with the help of light and colour.
The focus of this workshop is experimenting with light and colour. These experiments will be based on a subtractive mixture of colours. The participants can make colourdesigns on the computers and print them. Then these prints will be "shot at" using coloured lights, which will create a colour animation.

Workshop ' mapping paradiso (analogue projection mapping)' by Jan van Nuenen

Jan van Nuenen designed a new ' façade projection' for the 5daysoff festival with the title Deep Sea Paradiso. The projection will change the venue into a large deep sea aquarium which will make you feel as if you are walking on the bottom of the sea.
The images of water used for the projection are not generated by water simulation plug-ins, but are filmed images of an aquarium containing a model of Paradiso's façade. By using a system made of pumps and motors, bubbles and rain can be made and the water level and currents can be altered. Later, computer animations will be added to the recordings. During the workshop the model will be installed at NIMk. So the workshop participants will actually record a version of the projection which will be projected at Paradiso later on.

Workshop 'behind the scenes' by Aart Muis and Rob Donkers/ Rnul Interactive
During this workshop you will get the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the installation “Behind the scenes” which will be shown at the Melkweg during 5days off. You will be informed about the technical aspects and conceptual background of the work and Rnul will give a brief description of their oeuvre and their motivations in general.
Different types of interaction will be the subject of the workshop and as workshop participant you will be able to work with several tools used for the installation ' Behind the scenes'. You will be working towards a concept, keeping in mind a specific type of behaviour and interaction the installation should evoke. Rnul will provide technical support while you work on the goal determined and like a chef using tracking ingredients, photo's, video's and audio you will create a set-up for an installation in which interaction is a key subject.
