Dialogue: About Nan Hoover covers the live of nan Hoover, her early American work, her extensive oeuvre from the moment that she moved to The Netherlands in 1969, and also deals with a number of notable aspects in and of her work. In the same way that Nan Hoover seeks to engage her viewers in dialogue in her drawings, paintings, photographs, videos, performances and installations, this monograph seeks dialogue with the reader. The book makes no pretence to being a definitive monograph. Even as Hoover leaves room for fantasy and imagination, Dialogue leaves room for questions and suggestions. In this way the writer hopes to prompt readers to look at the varied work of this exceptional artist, look at it again, and look at it in a different way.
Dialogue: About Nan Hoover is a bound book of 80 pages. Sixteen works by the artist are reproduced in color. Spread through the text are black and white illustrations of more than thirty other works. Exhibition and bibliographic information completes the whole.
In order to reach the widest audience, Dialogue is written in English. For the same reason, the writer has tried to keep the text as accessibly and easily readable as possible. Both experts and beginners will have a fruitful time with this unique monograph.
