Friday, 13 January
Begins 5:00 p.m.
Together with our colleagues at V2_, we invite all our friends and professional contacts to join us on Friday the 13th for a finissage for the presentation Ideophones, by Dick Raaijmakers.
'Ping Pong', by Dick Raaijmakers, will be performed by DNK at 6:00 p.m.
Prior to the finissage, at 4:00 p.m., Hans Lentz will discuss the useful reconstruction of Dick Raaijmakers's Ideophone 3 in the gallery. His presentation was originally planned for To Transfer or to Transform, a series at the NIMk on new versions, remakes, reconstructions and emulation of works of media art, but unfortunately could not be held at that time.
Last year was the tenth time the Witteveen Bos Art Technology Award was awarded – and this year it went to Dick Raaijmakers (b. 1930). To mark this achievement, one of Dick Raaijmakers's Ideophones has been reconstructed: Ideophone 1. In the early 1970s Raaijmakers developed three installations in which the loudspeaker itself is allowed to have its say. Two of these Ideophones were an important part of the Raaijmakers exhibition which was to be seen from 11 November through 4 December, 2011, in the Bergkerk in Deventer.
The Ideophones I and III can still be seen through 14 January at the NIMk.
With thanks to V2_ Institute for Instable Media.
