ART X TECHNOLOGY

24th of May, 12:00 - 17:00

26th of April and 24th of May Opening conference Future explorations of Art and Technology

The starting point of this conference will be the vision stating that the relationship between art and technology is more than just nice to know. During progressive and future research on the way in which technology and art interact certain questions arise, like:

What questions are being asked by the arts, that aren’t being posed by different means?
What is the role of technology in the production, conservation, research and presentation of art?
Is technology always subservient to the arts, or can it also have a more demanding character within the domain of the arts?
Will the interaction between the arts and technology lead to actual innovation?

April 26th (12-17 hours)
subjects of the day will be questions regarding the role of technology in the presentation and representation of art.

Orators: Annet Dekker (independent researcher and curator), Joris Dik (professor in Materials in Art & Archaeology at the Technical University of Delft) and Ysbrand Hummelen (senior researcher at the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed).
