BIG M

From 12-08-2004 until 12-09-2004

Media art tours The Netherlands

This summer the Netherlands Media Art Institute is presenting BIG M. This inflatable tent will be set up at various large festivals and events all over The Netherlands. Inside it visitors can become acquainted with and enjoy diverse forms of media art.

BIG M
BIG M has a floor area of seventeen square meters. Inside there are three screens on which works are projected. The tent is a metallic gray tunnel sculpture five meters high. This exciting shape alone generates interest. Spectators can’t resist the temptation to take a look inside to find out what is going on there. BIG M invites the public to discover the rich and diverse world of media art.

Program

BIG M invites the audience to come along on a visual adventure. It presents media art in all its facets, from music video and silent poetry to the experimental and anarchistic use of digital techniques. It is art which at first sight merges seamlessly into contemporary visual culture, but still does not give in without resistance:
- idols by Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay
- desire by Pia Wergius
- work ethic by Jeroen Kooijmans
- family life by Nicky Zwaan
- breathless by Bea de Visser
- weightless moment by Michiel van Bakel
- sehnsuch by Martijn Veldhoen
- the devil's verses by Led Zeppelin by Jeroen Offerman
- poetry of the sports news by eddie d.
- computer failure by Bas van Koolwijk
- zap behavior by Peter Bogers
- silent witness by Adad Hannah
- blind adoration by Peter Stel
and still much more... in a varied overview of ten years of video art from the collection of the Netherlands Media Art Institute.

VJ Workshop
The design of BIG M is perfect for giving a VJ workshop for beginners. Making live video work in clubs has spread far outside the underground. Especially young artists are involved with this VJ culture. The workshop is a fun and practical way of getting acquainted with the VJ phenomenon.
