Verschuivingen in theater, dans en performance

Wat zijn de nieuwe tendensen in Performance Kunst? Begin jaren 70 werd de term Performance Kunst geïntroduceerd om de tradities in het theater open te breken. Performance Kunst werd echter vooral bij de beeldende kunst ondergebracht. Maar de laatste jaren lijkt de langgewenste verschuiving naar theater, en dans, toch plaats te vinden. Wat veroorzaakt deze verschuiving en welke gevolgen heeft dit voor de beeldende kunst, dans en theater? Is performance kunst nog wel een discipline of is het een aanduiding voor een genre geworden? En in hoeverre worden de tradities uit het verleden meegenomen of is er vooral sprake van ‘oude wijn in nieuwe vaten’?

Moniek Toebosch, filmmaakster, performer, actrice, regisseur, muzikant en sinds 2004 directeur van DasArts: “DasArts Daily shows new theatremakers, who use great or small gestures, who radically and ostentatiously, compellingly and inevitably unravel the enigmas of a society that has gone astray, who do not yet know how they must prepare themselves for a new world order, for political developments and new technological inventions.”

Jeroen Fabius coordinator van Dance Unlimited (opgericht in 2002): ”Dance Unlimited is a unique two-year post-graduate program supporting the practical and theoretical study of the relationship between choreography, performance, and new media/ emerging technologies. The program takes as its starting point the development of strong and sophisticated choreographic work from which to extend and test the boundaries of choreographic practice, application and thought. New media/ emerging technologies are approached from this perspective with an emphasis on representation and perception of the body in physical and mediated spaces.”
