collection of the artist
The work, 'A Word of Welcome', has been presented in different forms over a number of years. With a view to preservation and future presentations, an interview with the artist was held and recorded on video. The intention was to explore the limits to, and possibilities of, change to this installation. The work consists of a monitor on a pedestal presenting the image of a news reporter. The monitor is connected to the doormat, when someone enters, the reporter on the screen welcomes the visitor. This installation can be set-up in several versions with different types of welcomes in a number of different languages.
