Video art preservation
Since 1992 the Netherlands Media Art Institute has developed as a centre of expertise for the preservation of media art. The Institute investigated and developed models and theories in this area. Furthermore, it engages in restoration and preservation activities for the collections of art videos from the De Appel Foundation, Amsterdam, the Stedelijk Van Abbe Museum, Eindhoven, the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam, the Groningen Museum, Groningen, the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage, The Hague, the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo, the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam, the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and its own collections at the Netherlands Media Art Institute (the old collections from Monte Video, Time Based Arts and the Lijnbaan Centre).
It's possible for art organizations and artists to conserve videoworks.
