AuxPulse

Ambient and IDM liveset on two Nintendo DS

PROJECT
AuxPulse are Rutger Muller and Michael Vultoo; two synth freaks blending classic analogue acid, electro, techno, IDM and ambient into a substance that could be a basic necessity of life in another dimension. Their music is inspired by anything strange and/or ravey.

AuxPulse create all their music on two mobile Nintendo DS game devices, running a virtual
representation of the KORG DS-10 synthesizer. The two micro-controller musicians will produce multi-layered tracks, whilst standing in the middle of the audience, of IDM, ambient and acid. Whoever says you need loads of gear to create rich music; AuxPulse proves them wrong.

BIO RUTGER MULLER
Rutger Muller experiments with contemporary classical and electronic music. He works solo as DS-10 Dominator and Von Nohrfeldt and has collaborated with artists like Dianne Verdonk on cello. As DS-10 Dominator he plays live dance music played on a Nintendo DS and toured in The Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Macedonia, Japan and Hong Kong. Muller also reached the semifinals of the ‘Grote Prijs van Nederland’ in 2009.

He completed a Bachelor of Multimedia Design at Avans (2003 - 2008), is currently studying for his Master in Music Technology at the HKU, where he plans to graduate in 2012, and can often be found traveling undetected through your dream stages.

BIO MICHAEL VULTOO
Michael Vultoo has an obsession for analogue sounds. Unfortunately his wallet doesn’t, so he searched for something that could help him out with this problem. The result was: electronic music made with only a Nintendo DS and a virtual analogue emulation of the classic Korg MS-10 monophonic synthesizer, the Korg DS-10.

Together with Rutger Muller he puts his heart and soul into handcrafting all the synthesizer sounds and subsequently composing psychedelic rave music with a nostalgic touch.

Dieter Vandoren
Integration.04

Realtime sculpture in space, light and sound, 2012

PROJECT
A realtime sculpture in space, light and sound, Dieter Vandoren’s performance instrument integrates three spaces into one synesthetic medium: physical space, digital space and bodily space. The performer’s expressive intents translate directly into bodily manipulations of the immersive light and sound structures, causing a strong embodied experience for both performer and audience. Integration.04 is to be sensed by the entire body, not just the eyes and ears.

BIO
Dieter Vandoren (Belgium, 1981) is a media artist, performer and developer. His work balances on the edge of creative arts and scientific research & development. It combines audiovisual creation with IT engineering in architectural settings, mostly real-time generative and interactive. His current focus is on developing and performing spatial, immersive audiovisual instruments.

Vandoren is a guest tutor and researcher at the Hyperbody and StudioLab groups at the Delft University of Technology (Faculty of Architecture and Industrial Design, respectively) and directs Rotterdam-based art center De Fabriek. His performance Integration.03 was nominated for the STRP Talent Pit Award 2011.
