IVES Ensemble and NIMk at 'De Duif', Amsterdam February 26

The latter work, based on a star map from the fifties, was the inspiration for the programming of two breathtaking films, which will be shown prior to and after the concert. Both works were created by the British artist duo Semiconductor and come from the collection of the Netherlands Media Art Institute.

The duo from Brighton (Ruth Jarman and Joseph Gerhardt) collaborating since 1997, blends adventureous video art and electronic soundtracks to express their obsession for landscapes, architecture, geology, geography, artificial intelligence and chaos theory.

The artists are interested in invisible scientific phenomena - in their work they make many of these processes, such as sound waves and magnetism, visible. Their unique way of working has been awarded prestigious prizes and scholarships.

The duo stayed as artists in residence at the NASA Space Science Laboratory at UC Berkeley, California. They made good use of the opportunity to investigate the video archive, where they found beautiful images of the surface of the sun and the universe.

The concert with music by John Cage and the two works by Semiconductor, preceded by a short introduction will take place on Sunday, February 26 from 16:00 to 18:00 in De Duif at Prinsengracht 754 in Amsterdam. Entrance 5 Euro
