To Transfer or to Transform #5

Nan Hoover, Black and White... 2002
Dick Raaijmakers, Ideofoons, 1970

6 December 2011, 20:00 hrs
Entrance: Free

In the sessions To Transfer or to Transform the Netherlands Media Art Institute brings together a number of artists to talk about new versions, remakes, reconstructions and emulation of their work. On December 6 the artists themselves, media art pioneers Nan Hoover and Dick Raaijmakers, are not present. The reconstruction of their work will be presented by researchers and exhibition builders. The Netherlands Media Art Institute (NIMk) is researching the conservation of media artworks.

As a case study in the Obsolete Equipment project the installation Black and White ... by Nan Hoover, 2002 was reconstructed. Eve Dullart (NIMk) will present the research.

Nan Hoover was one of the (Dutch) media art pioneers, so is Dick Raaijmakers. Dick Raaijmakers won recently the The Witteveen Bos Art Technology Award and his Ideofoons were reconstructed at the Bergkerk in Deventer.
