Jan Fabre in the NIMk collection

From Autumn 2011, the Netherlands Media Art Institute (NIMk / Montevideo) preserves and distributes the audiovisual works of visual artist Jan Fabre. We are very proud of this new collaboration with a prominent artist.

To celebrate this new collaboration, we showcase a selection of Jan Fabre's audiovisual works in our mediatheque.

For more than 25 years, Jan Fabre (1958, Antwerp) plays a prominent role as a multidisciplinary visual artist, stage director, choreographer and playwright. He is internationally renowned for his innovative and multifaceted work. Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Hortus/Corpus’ at the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, 'The years of the hour blue' at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and ‘Pietas’ at the 2011 Venice Biennial.

Since 1992, NIMk carries out a research program on the preservation and documentation of media art. We offer preservation and storage services for art institutions and artists. NIMk’s distribution collection dates back to 1978 and is a living, vast collection of video and media art, varying from the first experiments in video art to recent productions by renowned (inter)national artists and upcoming talents.
