August 27 and 28, 2011
A new collaborative presentation by four Amsterdam based media institutes: EYE, FOAM, HUIS MARSEILLE and NIMk
Uitmarkt Amsterdam, Museumplein (Podium 22)
Opening hours Saturday 12.00 - 18.00 hrs, Sunday 13.00 - 18.00 hrs
The four Amsterdam museums and archives for moving and photographic images have set up a collaborative program titled 'MOVING STILL'. Film, video and photography go hand in hand in this program, and highlights from the diverse collections, short films and documentaries are shown on the central screen: stills and moving images, moving images and stills.
The Netherlands Institute of Media Art (NIMk) launches its new mobile exhibition space, Planet M which will host this first collaborative presentation MOVING STILL during Uitmarkt 2011. 'Visual' experience is a central element of Planet M.
EYE Film Institute Netherlands is preparing to move to its new location. The opening of its spectacular new building will take place in the spring of 2012 at the Amsterdam area Overhoeks, on the northern bank of the IJ. In the MKM, EYE will present glimpses of the new building as well as fragments from its collection with authentic images from early Amsterdam and classic commercial films.
A foretaste of the exhibition Still/Life (on show at Foam from 9 September to 26 October 2011) will be presented at the Uitmarkt: the classic theme of still-life is still an inspiration for a large group of contemporary photographers, although the concept has been modernised and updated. The final products are photos, videos and installations where photography is also processed. Works from: Melanie Bonajo, Kim Boske, Blommers & Schumm, Elspeth Diederix, Fleur van Dodewaard, Uta Eisenreich, Peggy Franck, Marnix Goossens, Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky, Paul Kooiker, Anouk Kruithof, Yvonne Lacet, Lernert & Sander, Charlott Markus, Katja Mater, Krista van der Niet, Jaap Scheeren & Hans Gremmen, Scheltens & Abbenes, Diana Scherer, Johannes Schwartz, Ingmar Swalue, Marianne Vierø, Anne de Vries and Qiu Yang.
During Uitmarkt, Huis Marseille will present a selection of short films about the work of Scarlett Hooft Graafland as an introduction to the artist's solo retrospective exhibition, SOFT HORIZONS, to be held in Huis Marseille (11 September – 11 December 2011). Furthermore, the 2011/12 year program will be distributed and there will be special portraits from the permanent collection on display.
NIMk presents recent works from its media art collection; among others works from: Lernert&Sander, Jacco Olivier and Nicolas Provost. In addition visitors are invited to become curators for one day: Scroll and browse the NIMk collection through a special interface and experience videos with themes such as love, science-fiction, fashion, music and remix. Compose your own playlist, share it with others and participate in our programming event.
